(1) O Krsna, when the calves disappeared, You began to search for them in order to allay the fears of the cowherd boys; The boys then also could not be found, and You began to search for both the calves and the boys.

(2) O Krsna, understanding that Lord Brahma had stolen the calves and the cowherd boys, You assumed the forms of the stolen boys and calves, so that the mothers of the boys and calves might become happy.

(3) O Krsna, perfectly imitating the forms and activities of each cowherd boy of Vraja and of each calf, entered the homes of all of the boys and calves.

(1) Radha and Krsna, the two halves that are the divine couple, meet. One half has a forehead like the moon. The other half has a forehead like the sun.

(2) One half wears an elephant-pearl necklace. The other half wears a forest-flower garland. One half has a youthful fair form. The other half has a glistening dark form.

(3) One half wears yellow garments. The other half wears a sari of blue. One half wears valaya bracelets. The other half wears dark cudi bracelets.

(4) The two halves of the divine couple stand side-by-side, arm-in-arm. Govinda dasa says: They are fair and dark, splendid like dark Rahu in the midst of swallowing the glistening moon.

Govinda Das Kaviraj has written this song “Adha Adha Anga Milala”. This song is taken from the book Padavali. In this song, Govinda Das Kaviraj gives a wonderful description about the beauty of the two halves of the divine couple – Srimati Radha and Lord Krishna.

(1) O Krsna, entering the appropriate place (Vrajabhumi), You  appear to  have become initiated in the vow of givine the unprecedented gift of love for Your lotus feet. O Performer of pastimes, You grant pure love for Yourself to Your devotees. That love is like a great festival of spiritual happiness.

(2) O  Krsna, , O delightful Son of Maharaja Nanda, when  the  (time) for Your birth-ceremony arrived, Your father arranged for a great festival and gave many gifts in charity, thus making the opulent  land  of  Gokula  very auspicious.

(3) O  Lord  Gopaala, you were then decorated with ornaments and  the  gopis celebrated   a  great  festival,  lovingly  and  jubilantly showering their benedictions upon You and sprinkling You with the milk of the cows of Vraja.

(4) O Krsna, O Delight of the people of Vraja, Nanda  Maharaja  then greatly  honored the people of Vraja and he opulently gave many opulent  giftrs to them as You drank the breast milk of Your mother Yasoda.

(5) O Krsna, attaing You as his son, King Nanda considered that he had a great jewel as a son, and he became very anxious for Your protection. When he went to Mathura to pay taxes, he asked the cowherd men to protect his home (in his absence.)

(6) O Krsna, please be merciful to me. Nanda Maharaja became delighted when he heard the auspicious questions of Vasudeva, who also became jubilant, hearing Nand’stranscendental reply.

(1) I pray that the wild horse of my heart may become like the cintamani-jewel horse Srila Rupa Gosvami, which carries as its rider the desire to serve the gopa-prince’s beloved.

(2) Because of Srila Rupa Gosvami’s efforts my heart is now peaceful, controlled, able to know the nature of spirit, fixed in yoga, and attached to the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Now that I have attained Srila Rupa Gosvami’s smiling, nectarean, compassionate glance, my heart has become wild by remembering the transcendental pastimes of Lord Hari.

(3) O does playing in the forest, you are all very fortunate because with your eyes you always drink the nectar of Lord Krsna’s face. As for myself, I am simply an unlucky dog wandering in Vraja trying to fill my belly. I never see Lord Krsna for even a moment.

(4) O friend, when you serve Vraja’s king and queen, who many times have met in my heart, please give the remnants of Their betelnuts to me.

(5) O friend, I see you serving Sri Radha’ who, languid from many passionate amorous pastimes, and Her cheeks wet with perspiration, rests on the couch of Lord Krsna’schest.

(6) May the splendid moon of Lord Krsna, which tirelessly dispels the great darkness of the demons, showers the nectar of pure love on the devotees, cools the white lotus of SriRadha, and makes the flowers of Her breasts blossom with happiness, protect us.

(7) At what very auspicious time will I directly see Sri Sri Radha-Krsna enjoying the sweet rasa dance, arguing over some yogurt at the base of a hill, and playing with Their friends in waves of joking words pushed by breezes of amorous desire?

(8) May Krsna, the leader of the cowherd boys who, as He walks on the path with His friends and surabhi cows, with happiness and concern offers hundreds of blessings toRohini-devi and the other devotees, and who, as the concerned queen of Vraja tearfully glances at His friends and at the lionlike Balarama, is gazed at with love and pride by the people of Vraja and with words of praise by Radha’ and His other gopi beloveds, protect us.

(9)    “Friend, who is this girl We have never seen before?”    “She is a vraja-gopi?”    “From where has she come? Why has she come?”    “She has come from Mathura-pura to worship You.”     When She heard the playful words “Now You may enjoy with the incomparable Lord Hari” Radha understood that the girl was Krsna in disguise and at once burst into a smile.

(10) O tongue tortured by thirst, please me with the delicious nectar of the name Radha with the wonderfully sweet condensed milk of the name Krsna, add the fragrant ice of pure love and drink this charming drink at every moment!

 (11) O moon of Lord Caitanya, please make the lotus of my heart bloom! Please make that lotus beautiful with swarms of dancing bumblebees of meditation upon You! Please shake away the dense darkness of my offenses! O kind Lord, please make sinful me drink the nectar of Your feet!

(12) I pray that I may fan the two young dancers of Vraja who have become fatigued by happily dancing in Cupid’s arena in an incomparable forest grove filled with the instrumental music of the expert cuckoos and the humming songs of the bees.

(13) On the strength of the service I have done to the pollen of his lotus feet, I am able to always reside, even in times of trouble, by the shore of Radha-kunda at the base ofGovardhana Hill. Protected by his friends, I chant and hear Sri Sri Radha-Mukunda’s holy names, which defeat the sweetest nectar. I pray that Srila Rupa Gosvami may always protect me.

Raghunatha Dasa Goswami has written this song “Abhira Palli Pati Putra”. The official name of this song is Abhista Sucanam. This song is taken from the book Stavavali. In this song, Raghunatha Dasa Goswami describes the divine pastimes performed in Vraja.

(1) Look at Lord Gauracandra and Lord Nitai, the two brothers who have descended to this earth, two brothers whose forms are wonderful and glorious!

(2) The glory of Their faces defeats the lotus flowers. They are effulgent with the glory of ecstatic spiritual love.

(3) Their limbs are anointed with sandal paste. Raising Their arms, They chant, “Hari!”

(4) In this way They manifest the nama-sankirtana movement, the movement of chanting the holy names. Vrndavana dasa thus sings Their glories.

1) I am an impious sinner and have caused others great anxiety and trouble.
2) I have never hesitated to perform sinful acts for my own enjoyment. Devoid of all compassion, concerned only with my own selfish interests, I am remorseful seeing others happy. I am a perpetual liar, and the misery of others is a source of great pleasure for me.
3) The material desires within the core of my heart are unlimited. I am wrathful, devoted to false pride and arrogance, intoxicated by vanity, and bewildered by worldly affairs. Envy and egotism are the ornaments I wear.
4) Ruined by laziness and sleep, I resist all pious deeds; yet I am very active and enthusiastic to perfrom wicked acts. For worldly fame and reputation I engage in the practice of deceitfulness. Thus I am destroyed by my own greed and am always lustful.5) A vile, wicked man such as this, rejected by godly people, is a constant offender. I am such a person, devoid of all good works, forever inclined toward evil, worn out and wasted by various miseries.

6) Now in old age, deprived of all means of success, humbled and poor, Bhaktivinoda submits his tale of grief at the feet of the Supreme Lord.

Purport by His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

prabhupad

Amara jivana sada pape rata nahiko punyera lesha. This is a song sung by Bhaktivinoda Thakura in Vaishnava humbleness. A Vaishnava is always meek and humble. So he is describing the life of the people in general, taking himself to be one of them. He says that “My life is always engaged in sinful activities, and if you try to find out, you will not find even a trace of pious activities—only sinful activities.” And parere udvega, diyachi ye koto, diyachi jivere klesa: “I am always inclined to give trouble to other living entities. That is my business. I want to see that others are suffering, and then I enjoy.” Nija sukha lagi’, pape nahi dori: “For my personal sense gratification, I accept any kind of sinful activity.” Daya-hina svartha-paro: “I am not at all merciful, and I see only to my personal interest.” Para-sukhe duhkhi, sada mithya-bhashi: “As such, when others are suffering I become very happy, and I am always speaking lies. Even for ordinary tbings I am accustomed to speaking lies.” Para-duhkha sukha-karo: “And if someone is suffering, that is very pleasant to me.” Asesha kamana, hridi majhe mora: “I have got lots of desires within my heart, and I am always angry and falsely prestigious, always puffed up with false pride.” Mada-matta sada vishaye mohita: “I am captivated by subject matters of sense gratification, and I am almost crazy.” Himsa-garva vibhushana: “My ornaments are enviousness and false pride.” Nidralasya hata, sukarye virata: “I am conquered by sleep and laziness, and I am always averse to pious activities.” Akarye udyogi ami: “And I am very enthusiastic to perform impious activities.” Pratishtha lagiya sathya-acarana: “I always cheat others for my prestige.” Lobha-hata sada kami: “I am conquered by greediness and always lusty.” E heno durjana saj-jana-varjita: “I am so fallen, and I have no association with devotees.” Aparadhi nirantara: “I am an offender always.” Subha-karya-sunya: “In my life there is not a bit of auspicious activity”; sadanartha manah: “and my mind is always attracted by something mischievous.” Nana duhkhe jara jara: “Therefore, at the fag end of my life I am almost invalid by all such sufferings.” Bardhakye ekhona upaya-vihina: “Now in my old age I have no alternative”; ta’te dina akincana: “therefore by force I have now become very humble and meek.” Bhakativinoda prabhura carane, kore duhkha nivedana: “Thus Bhaktivinoda Thakura is offering his sad statement of his life’s activities at the lotus feet of the Supreme Lord.”

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
